Secure Replacement for File Transfer Scripts

Tectia MFT Events makes it possible to get rid of legacy FTP scripts that are unsecured and difficult to maintain or manage in any larger network. Tectia MFT Events provides a secure and cost-effective means of replacing plain-text file transfers with automated file transfers that are secured with SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol).

Tectia MFT Events contains the components for creating, executing, and securing file transfers and other data operations. MFT Events can also notify file operators by email on the results of the operations. The email messages are customizable, for example, in the local language.

FTP scripts replaced with events

With Tectia MFT Events, file transfer operators can create, maintain and monitor file transfer events centrally via an intuitive Management Console that introduces a logical workflow. A file transfer event can be defined to transfer one file to several destinations, many files to one destination, or many files to several destinations. The events are usually defined to run the file operations automatically, but the Tectia MFT Events operator can also run events manually, for example when testing them.

Secure file transfer protocol

Tectia MFT Events sends all data encrypted with the Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP) via SSH2 to secure the transferred data. The SFTP functionality of Tectia MFT Events allows secure copying, moving and removing of files over TCP/IP networks.

The SFTP protocol is based on the IETF standard Secure Shell and it is natively supported by Tectia MFT Events and the Tectia Client/Server solution.

Guaranteed delivery increases reliability

Tectia MFT Events increases the reliability of file transfers through guaranteed delivery, which provides a configurable number of retries. When used against Tectia Servers, Tectia MFT Events resumes interrupted transfers automatically, instead of restarting the whole operation. When Tectia Server for IBM z/OS or OpenSSH servers are used in the file transfers, guaranteed delivery restarts interrupted file transfers from the beginning as many times as the configured retries define.

FIPS 140-2 certified encryption

Tectia MFT Events incorporates a FIPS 140-2 certified cryptographic module to help ensure acceptance in government audits. The FIPS 140-2 Cryptographic Library has been validated for both Windows and major Unix platforms. The mode of the cryptographic library can be changed easily in the Tectia Connections settings.

For a list of platforms on which the FIPS library has been validated or tested, see FIPS-Certified Cryptographic Library.
