Using an Oracle Database

As an alternative to the built-in SQL database, it is possible to use an Oracle database with Tectia Manager. This is recommended if the size of the database is to exceed 2GB. Tectia Manager accesses the database through a built-in Oracle client.

Note that the Oracle database installation or administration are not covered in this document. For instructions, refer to Oracle documentation.

To use an Oracle database, do the following:

  1. Install the Oracle database (or use an existing installation).

  2. Create a user in the Oracle database after logging in as a database administrator.

    Oracle 9.x:

    CREATE USER manageruser IDENTIFIED BY password
      DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
      TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp
      QUOTA UNLIMITED ON users
      QUOTA UNLIMITED ON temp;
    GRANT CONNECT TO manageruser;
    COMMIT;

    Oracle 10.x, 11.1 and 11.2:

    CREATE USER manager_user IDENTIFIED BY password
      DEFAULT TABLESPACE users
      TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp
      QUOTA UNLIMITED ON users;
    GRANT CONNECT TO manager_user;
    GRANT RESOURCE TO manager_user;
    COMMIT;

  3. Configure Tectia Manager using the initial configuration wizard. See Initial Configuration for Management Server.
