Management Agent Configuration Options

Management Agent can be configured using the following options:

name

Name of the configuration. The name will be used in the management system only; it does not affect how the Management Agent operates.

description

Description of the configuration. The description will be used in the management system only; it does not affect how the Management Agent operates.

comment

A free form comment field that is included in the generated configuration files. The value of this field is always quoted so that it is never interpreted as configuration.

Enable agent Events log gathering

Select whether the Management Agent should gather the file transfer logs from the monitored Tectia MFT Events hosts, and transfer them to the Management Server. If the checkbox is ticked, the Management Agent sends the logs to the Management Server once a minute.

Enable agent file transfer log gathering

Select whether the Management Agent should gather the SFTP file transfer logs on the monitored host, and transfer them to the Management Server. If the checkbox is ticked, the Management Agent sends the file-related logs to the Management Server once a minute.

To be able to collect the SFTP server logs from OpenSSH Servers, you need to change the OpenSSH configuration. See instructions in Enabling SFTP Logging on OpenSSH Server.

Enable agent SecSh log gathering

Select whether the Management Agent should gather the Secure Shell system logs on the monitored host, and transfer them to the Management Server. If the checkbox is ticked, the Management Agent sends the logs to the Management Server once a minute.

SecshMonitorServerStatusPollInterval

Specifies how often the Windows Management Agent checks for Tectia Server status. The default is every 10 seconds. This affects how quickly the server status change is reflected on the Management Server. The value must be between 10 and 86400 seconds (24h), or 0 which disables server status polling.

SecshMonitorBinaryPollInterval

Specifies how often the Management Agent checks which Secure Shell version is installed on the host. The default is once an hour. This affects how quickly a local software installation is detected. The information is reported automatically when the software is installed or uninstalled by the Management Server. The value must be between 60 and 86400 seconds (24h), or 0 which disables polling.

UserMonitorConfigPollInterval (Windows only)

Specifies how often the Windows Management Agent updates configuration changes for the users logged in. The default is every 5 minutes after login. The distributed configuration files are always updated when a user logs in and the User Monitor starts. This setting is relevant only when Tectia Client has been installed on the host. The value in seconds must be between 10 and 86400 (24h), or 0 which disables polling.

UserMonitorHostkeyPollInterval (Windows only)

Specifies how often the Windows Management Agent updates server host keys for the users logged in. The default is every 5 minutes after login. The distributed host keys are always updated when a user logs in and the User Monitor starts. This setting is relevant only when Tectia Client has been installed on the host. The value must be between 10 and 86400 seconds (24h), or 0 which disables polling.

SecshMonitorLogBufferLimit (Unix only)

Specifies the maximum size of Tectia Server logs buffered in the Unix Management Agent. This affects the memory usage of the Management Agent as the log messages are buffered in the memory. The value is given in bytes, and must be between 1024 (one kilobyte) and 536870912 (512 megabytes).

SyslogFacility (Unix only)

Specifies the system log facility used by the Management Agent. This defines where the Management Agent sends the system log messages about its own operations. Select a suitable option from the drop-down menu. The following facilities are available: auth, security, daemon, user, mail, local0, local1, local2, local3, local4, local5, local6 and local7.

The factory default is daemon which is also used if this setting is left empty.
