About Antti Kaunonen

Antti Kaunonen has experience of 40 years in global industrial automation and intelligent machines businesses. He has been involved with pulp and paper, energy generation, electric utility, and port automation while he lived in the USA (1986-1991), China (2006-2007), and Germany (2007-2015). Antti retired from Cargotec Oyj in 2022, where he was responsible for Kalmar and its divisions since 2015. Kalmar has delivered state-of-the-art fully automated port solutions globally. Before that, Antti was working for Voith, where he was responsible for automation businesses for paper machines and hydropower plants. Before Voith, Antti worked for Metso Corporation (Kajaani Automation, Valmet Automation, Neles Automation, and Metso Automation) where he was involved with sensors and automation systems. During his career, Antti has been closely connected to universities. He strongly believes that a very close collaboration between universities and industrial companies benefits both parties. Antti was an industrial professor (part-time assignment) at Tampere University for close to ten years. Antti was nominated as the Alumni Of The Year 2021 of Tampere University. Antti also holds several degrees: M.Sc., Lic.Tech. and Dr.Tech in Automation from Tampere University, Finland, and an MBA from Emory University, Atlanta, GA, USA.
