Customer challenge: Lack of secure, sovereign real-time collaboration

The customer needed to collaborate with internal teams and federated external partners. The collaboration happens across independent organizations for preparedness project and includes municipalities, vendors, and NGOs. Customer-grade solutions (like WhatsApp), Signal or Telegram) were not authorized for use and were missing auditing and data sovereignty features. At the same time, many proprietary tools or VPN setups proved to be complex to use or configure.

The customer chose SalaX Secure Messaging to enable tightly governed and restrictred internal discussions while enabling sovereign extneral collaboration as follows:

Secure real-time communications without the risks of consumer-grade apps
Runs air-gapped, with access-code key recover for administrators if the user accidentally loses access to the solution.
Emphasis on data security and data sovereignty with on-premises or private cloud deployments
Decentralized solution enabling communications between multiple sovereign organizations collaborating without a single central authority holding all the data

Solution: SalaX Secure Messaging for data sovereign communications

SalaX was initially deployed fully on‑premises as an air-gapped solution (with options for private cloud, or in public cloud environments for federation). This allows the customer to keep all message content, metadata, and keys within the required jurisdiction - in this case an EU data center - to support data sovereignty requirements

Because SalaX uses end‑to‑end encryption and allows the customer to control encryption keys and infrastructure, the customer can prevent third parties (including cloud providers and the solution provicer) from accessing message content.

SalaX Secure Messaging makes it simple to keep internal operational rooms separate from partner‑facing  rooms, which is important for handling sensitive or incident versus routine communication.
