Helsinki, Finland 5th of June 2025. SSH Communications Security (SSH) announces that it has joined the PROACTIF technology project which redefines how emergency situations and critical infrastructure are managed in Europe by using unmanned vehicle (UxV) systems and drones. PROACTIF is funded by the European Union Chips Joint Undertaking. 

The project is led by Nokia and brings together partners and affiliates across Europe in the areas of research, hardware development and software solutions. SSH’s critical role is to develop a solution that provides low-latency, real-time quantum-safe communications between the drone and its operator by using post quantum cryptography (PQC) certificates. This ensures that unmanned vehicles can be operated without disruptions even under large-scale jamming, Distributed Denial of Service (DDoS) or other interference attempts.   

SSH also ensures that only verified and authorized operators can use drones for firefighting, border patrolling, police operations, surveilling public events or battling forest fires, to name a few examples. All UxV connections can be recorded and monitored live if necessary.
