SSH for the CHARM ECSEL project
The CHARM (Challenging Environments Tolerant Smart Systems for IoT and AI) project is funded by the ESCEL JU.
About the CHARM ECSEL project
The goal of the CHARM (Challenging Environments Tolerant Smart Systems for IoT and AI) project is to address the challenges posed by harsh industrial environments to the successful implementation of Internet of Things (IoT) and Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in smart industrial settings.
With the digitalization of European manufacturing industries being vital for their sustained growth and competitiveness, it is important to overcome the limitations imposed by challenging environmental conditions.
By developing smart industrial IoT and AI solutions, the CHARM project aims to enhance the tolerance of these systems to operate effectively in demanding industrial environments. This will enable the seamless integration of IoT and AI technologies, unlocking their full potential in manufacturing processes and end-user environments.
Through its research and development efforts, the CHARM project seeks to facilitate the continuous renewal and competitive edge of European manufacturing industries by harnessing the power of IoT and AI while overcoming the obstacles presented by challenging environments.
Introduction to the CHARM ECSEL project

Collaboration
Within the framework of the CHARM project, SSH is collaborating with project partners to create data security solutions that are secure, scalable, and easy to deploy. The solutions are designed to cater to various Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT) use cases involving companies such as Valmet, UJV Rez, or Sandvik.
SSH's role in the project
Our primary role revolves around developing a secure access management system for devices that monitor and control activities within the Operational Technology (OT) industry. By leveraging our expertise in secure access technologies, SSH aims to enhance the overall security and safety of companies operating in OT industries.
Our secure access management solution
PrivX OT is our Zero Trust secure access management solution that integrates with IT/OT systems, providing secure industrial access to modern and legacy OT targets in hybrid environments.
Supported by 37 partners in 10 countries
This project has received funding from the ECSEL Joint Undertaking (JU) under grant agreement No 876362. The JU receives support from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation program and Finland, Austria, Belgium, Czechia, Germany, Italy, Latvia, Netherlands, Poland, Switzerland.
