Unix

On the supported Unix platforms, Perl may be included in the OS distribution. The tested Perl versions per platform are listed here. If Perl is not included in the distribution, it can be downloaded from http://www.perl.org.

On Unix platforms, the additional modules are distributed as tar packages. The required modules are included on the Certifier CD. They are also available for download at http://www.cpan.org. To install a module:

  1. Uncompress the archive:
    gunzip module-name.tar.gz

  2. Extract the archive:
    tar -xf module-name.tar

  3. Go to the directory of the module:
    cd module-name

  4. Do step 1 of standard perl module installation:
    perl Makefile.PL

  5. Do step 2 of standard perl module installation:
    make

  6. Do step 3 of standard perl module installation:
    make test

  7. Do step 4 of standard perl module installation:
    make install

Repeat this for each module needed. The list of required modules depends on Perl version and the OS, the module requirements for the tested combinations are listed here.

Some modules are inter-dependent and they need to be installed in specific order. The list of tested modules is in order, which has been tested to work.

To check if a module has been installed successfully, type the following on the command line:

perl -Mmodule-name -e shell

If the module has been installed successfully, perl will exit without error messages. If the module is not installed, there will be an error message. The module-name syntax here is of type XML::Writer, for example:

perl -MXML::Writer -e shell
