Centralized Management with Tectia Manager

Tectia Manager is a separate product that offers centralized management of the Tectia client/server solution. Hosts running Tectia Client, ConnectSecure, or Server can be placed under control of Tectia Manager, and the Tectia software can be installed, upgraded, configured, and monitored in a centralized manner from the Management Server without local actions or end-user intervention.

With Tectia Manager, the maintenance of Tectia products running in large and heterogeneous environments is made easier and more efficient, as it provides a centralized repository and distribution point of Tectia software and policy configuration. This way the amount of time and manual work can be minimized, which reduces the total cost of ownership of the environment.

Tectia Manager consists of a Management Server, where the configurations and host data are stored, and Management Agents which are installed on the remote hosts and report all relevant Tectia data from the hosts to the Management Server.

Centralized Tectia configuration management

An intuitive administration interface simplifies the editing of the Tectia configuration settings and verifies the configuration file syntax. Centralized multi-platform distribution throughout the environment enables fast deployment of policy changes and minimizes service downtime.

Enforced Tectia configuration consistency ensures a high level of security throughout the organization.

Centralized server host public key distribution and server host certificate management

Tectia Manager automates the distribution of Tectia Server and OpenSSH server host keys to Tectia Clients, ConnectSecures, and OpenSSH clients. Server host keys are now kept up-to-date throughout the entire environment, and transparent authentication is ensured also for the first connection to a server. This saves end users from unnecessary "host key changed" alerts and helps the users to distinguish real security threats.

For large and dynamic environments, the built-in certification authority functionality provides further scalability for host authentication management. Centralized deployment of PKI settings also reduces the management costs when external PKI is in use.

Centralized Tectia Server log gathering and viewing

Centralized Tectia Server log gathering provides a comprehensive view into the Tectia environment. Flexible filtering enables tracking of details such as unsuccessful login attempts, enabling fast reaction to anomalies and error situations.

Environment status monitoring, auditing, and reporting

In addition, administrators can run reports to prove to auditors that the security software is operational according to the corporate security policy.

Tectia Manager offers also powerful monitoring and reporting capabilities which can be used for gathering information on the status and performance of the Tectia products, for example, the deployed Tectia versions and the type of host keys they use.

There are predefined report models also for secure file transfers performed by Tectia Server and Tectia MFT Events. The collected evidence can be processed further into security reports, for example, for compliance audits.

Tectia Manager is described in Tectia Manager Product Description.
