Post-quantum cryptography (PQC) is no longer a distant problem for APAC organisations; instead, it is quickly becoming a boardroom and regulatory discussion.
Across Australia, Singapore, and Japan, governments and critical industries are shifting their focus from understanding the quantum threat to actively preparing for it.
Australia is currently the most advanced market in APAC – The Australian Signals Directorate (ASD) has set a hard deadline: a transition plan by 2026, migration underway by 2028, and full PQC adoption complete by 2030.
Other markets are moving in the same direction - regulators in Singapore, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong have each issued quantum advisories and readiness frameworks, with a particular emphasis on critical infrastructure sectors.
At our recent APAC Partner Summit, PQC migration was one of the key themes. We had sessions covering our PQC portfolio and how organizations can take the first practical step to kickstart their migration journey.
While large-scale migration is still several years out, the market has already entered a discovery and planning phase. Organisations are beginning to inventory their cryptographic assets, assess quantum risk exposure, and build crypto-agility into their technology stacks. The conversations are happening now.
Our partners are turning awareness into action. We now have demo labs set up by partners in Singapore and Australia. In Australia, TDS has deployed an NQX demo lab in their environment, enabling remote tunnel connectivity across their office, data centre, and remote lab. PrivX has also been integrated to provide access to demo equipment using ephemeral keys - delivering full access control without the need for a VPN.
A second demo lab is now live in Singapore, and as PQC momentum builds across the region, we are actively working to expand this network to additional markets.
Before organizations can migrate to PQC, they need to understand their current cryptographic landscape: what needs to be protected, where the highest risks are, and which systems should be prioritized first.
SSH can support this process with cryptographic inventory and risk assessment services, drawing on our long standing expertise in SSH risk analysis and PrivX Insights.
