This section describes how software upgrades and configuration deployments affect the production environment on the various host platforms.
SSH Tectia Server on Unix
Configuration update: The service is reconfigured
with the ssh-server-config-tool, without restarting the
service. Current connections remain open with the previous connection
parameters. The new configuration parameters will be applied to new
connections.
Binary update: The current version of the previously deployed configuration on the Management Server is redeployed. If there were any local modifications in the configuration, they will be lost. The existing connections remain active with the previous configuration parameters. The new binary and parameters are applied to new connections.
SSH Tectia Client and ConnectSecure on Unix
Configuration update: The current connections remain open with the previous connection profile settings. The new configuration parameters will be applied to new connections.
Binary update: The current version of the previously deployed configuration on the Management Server is redeployed. Existing connections remain active with the previous connection parameters. The new binary and connection parameters will be applied to new connections.
SSH Tectia Server on Windows
Configuration update: The service is reconfigured
with the ssh-server-config-tool, without restarting the
service. Current connections remain open with the previous connection
parameters. The new configuration parameters will be applied to new
connections.
Binary update: Displays a notification on the managed server host, and closes current connections after a grace period. Requires host reboot. The current version of the previously deployed configuration on the Management Server is redeployed.
SSH Tectia Client and ConnectSecure on Windows
Configuration update: The common settings become effective for the next invocation of the client. Current connections remain open with the previous connection parameters. The new connection parameters will be applied to new connections.
Binary update: Displays a notification on the workstation, and closes current connections after a grace period. Requires host reboot. The current version of the previously deployed configuration on the Management Server is redeployed.
SSH Tectia Connector on Windows
Note that the last version of SSH Tectia Connector is 5.x. SSH Tectia Connector cannot be updated to 6.x. However, the earlier versions of SSH Tectia Connector are still supported.
Configuration in 6.x: In 6.x the Connector functionality has been combined with SSH Tectia ConnectSecure, and the tunneling settings are made under Configurations - SSH Tectia G3 - Transparent Tunneling. However, the 4.x and 5.x Connector settings are made under Configurations - Connector Configurations.
Configuration update from 4.x or 5.x to a later 5.x: The common settings become effective for the next invocation of SSH Tectia Connector. Current connections remain open with the previous connection parameters. The new tunneling rules and connection parameters will be applied to new connections.
Binary update: Displays a notification on the workstation display, and closes current connections after a grace period. Requires host reboot. The current version of the previously deployed configuration on the Management Server is redeployed.
