Chapter 6 in SSH Tectia Manager Product Description lists the versions of SSH Secure Shell and SSH Tectia software that SSH Tectia Manager supports for centralized management. The Management Server identifies and reports also legacy versions of SSH Secure Shell, and they can be upgraded to current SSH Tectia versions.
On Windows, upgrading of versions prior to SSH Tectia Client/Server 4.1 requires the installation package of the currently installed version so that it can be uninstalled. Therefore, you first need to import the legacy versions onto the Management Server, and only then proceed with the SSH Tectia upgrade.
In some environments, there may be hosts for which changing the Secure Shell implementation is unsuitable. Hosts with third-party or legacy Secure Shell installations may continue to coexist in the environment. Such Secure Shell installations are reported in SSH Tectia Manager, but no management actions (upgrades, configuration updates, log gathering, server status reporting) will be available.
If an existing SSH Secure Shell client on a Windows workstation is upgraded to SSH Tectia Client while the user has the client application open, the user can be notified and given a grace period after which the application is shut down and upgraded.
