This document is intended for the administrator or system architect who is planning the deployment of SSH Tectia security software using SSH Tectia Manager for centralized management. This document is valid for SSH Tectia Manager version 6.0 and SSH Tectia Client, ConnectSecure, and Server version 6.0.

This guide explains what the administrator needs to consider before deploying the SSH Tectia software. The actual installation and configuration instructions are given in the SSH Tectia product-specific manuals.

Figure 1.1 illustrates a typical chain of tasks in the deployment process.

This document contains the following information:

Chapter 2 presents a set of questions as a guideline for environment assessment prior to deployment. Each question has some implications on the deployment of the software, for example on planning the host views and administrator roles. SSH Tectia Usage describes the software components involved in typical SSH Tectia use scenarios.
Chapter 3 presents guidelines for the installation and deployment of the various components of SSH Tectia Manager.
Chapter 4 presents examples of host views that can be created in SSH Tectia Manager.
Chapter 5 presents examples of administrator groups and associated rights that can be created in SSH Tectia Manager.
Chapter 6 presents how SSH Tectia Manager is deployed to an unmanaged legacy SSH Secure Shell environment or to a legacy Secure Shell environment.
Chapter 7 presents an overview of the effects of SSH Tectia software upgrades on the managed hosts.
Chapter 8 presents guidelines on how to configure the SSH Tectia environment to utilize PKI authentication.
