"NextHop looks to create partnerships that best serve our customers' needs," said Ed Cluss, president and CEO, NextHop Technologies. "With many of our current customers already using SSH software for their security applications, a partnership with a knowledgeable company like SSH made sense on many levels. There are two growing market segments we plan to address with this partnership: security appliance companies who need to add routing functionality to their boxes to remain competitive with other manufacturers, and enterprise networking equipment manufacturers who need to bolster their security capabilities. SSH and NextHop technologies allow hardware manufacturers to achieve these two challenges in one solution."
SSH QuickSec Toolkit Family is specifically designed for developers and OEMs to quickly and easily implement IPSec functionality. The SSH QuickSec Toolkit for Access Networks allows developers to implement security technology on edge and access devices. It addresses all practical IPSec layer problems found in access network applications regarding dynamic addressing and configuration and NAT (Network Address Translation) issues. It includes bundled L2TP implementation for maximum interoperability and a robust TCP/IP firewall.
NextHop offers the broadest, most complete set of routing software and protocols in the embedded software market. For security related applications, NextHop offers the most robust implementation for all the protocols that a security vendor will need, allowing them to exceed all customer requirements. Some of these protocols include OSPF (Open Shortest Path First), BGP (Border Gateway Protocol), and multicast EPIM (Protocol Independent Multicast), DVMRP (Distance Vector Multicast Routing Protocol), MSDP (Multicast Source Discovery Protocol). All NextHop's protocols have been thoroughly tested both internally and externally through neutral third parties, such as the UNH IOL (University of New Hampshire Inter-Operability Lab). Both SSH QuickSec Toolkit for Access Networks and NextHop's GateD work seamlessly together and support VxWorks, Linux, and NetBSD operating systems.
"Our new partnership with NextHop builds on our commitment to help OEMs quickly implement robust, comprehensive network security into their network products," said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH Communications Security, Inc. "Bringing proven and trusted technologies of both SSH and NextHop together, we are providing
our OEM customers with faster, easier ways to bring scalable IPSec and firewall network security solutions to market."
