* Product News - SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS on a Success Path
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
During the past years, the role of the mainframe in the enterprise has changed significantly. From being a traditional centralized storage and transaction hub, the mainframe is now a capable service-oriented platform supporting a plethora of applications of which some have a Unix/Windows heritage. This introduces new data security challenges in form of regulations, mandates, and security policies.
SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS is today the only enterprise-class Secure Shell -based solution for protecting data communications to and from IBM mainframes. The mainframe solution is currently deployed at several large enterprises, financial institutions and governmental agencies worldwide, and has predominantly been used to replace FTP and other non-secure or proprietary file transfer solutions.
The SSH Secure Shell technology, on which SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS is based, is the de facto standard for secure file transfer and is being used daily by millions of users worldwide. By choosing SSH Tectia, our customers are not only able to securely transfer files within their organization, but also to securely and cost-effectively exchange data with external parties.
SSH Tectia for IBM z/OS is fully integrated into the IBM mainframe environment and supports automatic and fully transparent transfer of files between e.g. MVS (Multiple Virtual Storage) and Unix, Linux and Windows environments.
The product is continuously being enhanced and we would here like to thank our customers for providing us with enhancement requests - this helps us implement the right features that make our software easier to deploy and use. THANKS!! In the recently released version 5.3, we introduced support for PKI and x.509 certificates. And several new and exciting features, including support for GDG data sets and SMF, will be available in version 5.4, which is scheduled for release this spring.
SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS received the IBM ServerProven® certification in 2006 as a result of rigorous product verification in real-life production environments.
SSH Tectia Server for IBM z/OS provides file transfer profiles to improve usability of file transfers that involve codeset translations and MVS dataset parameters. Users and administrators can specify file transfer parameters (e.g. ASCII/EBCDIC translation and dataset allocation parameters) as profiles that can be used automatically during the file transfers. Users can also easily select specific profiles they want to use. Both global and user-specific file transfer profiles are supported.
