* Product News (1) - SSH Tectia Client/Server Solution 5.0 Released

The SSH Tectia client/server solution 5.0 was released on September 21, 2005.


**The new key features of the release include:

• SSH G3™, the third generation Secure Shell protocol implementation, for faster throughput and scalability
  
• CryptiCore® encryption and authentication technology for increased cryptographic performance
  
• IBM z/OS platform support
  
• A complete client-side SFTP API for Java and C

**The new versions of the SSH Tectia secure system administration products are:

• SSH Tectia Client 5.0
  
• SSH Tectia Server (A) 5.0

**The new versions of the SSH Tectia secure application connectivity products are:

• SSH Tectia Connector 5.0
  
• SSH Tectia Server (T) 5.0

**The SSH Tectia client/server solution 5.0 introduces two new products for secure, automated file transfer:

• SSH Tectia Client (F) 5.0 provides client-side SFTP APIs and command-line tools for securing non-interactive and automated file transfers. SSH Tectia Client (F) has been specifically designed for use with SSH Tectia Server (F), Server (M) and Server (T), enabling secure and reliable high-performance file transfers in heterogeneous enterprise environments.
  
• SSH Tectia Server (F) 5.0 provides a secure file transfer server to be used in conjunction with SSH Tectia Client (F) to enable secure and reliable high-performance file transfers in heterogeneous enterprise environments.

**The SSH Tectia client/server solution 5.0 also introduces a new product for IBM mainframes:

• SSH Tectia Server (M) 5.0 provides Secure Shell server functionality for the IBM z/OS platform allowing enterprises to secure system administration, file transfers, and TN3270 application connections in mission-critical IBM mainframe environments.

You can download the new installation packages from SSH Customer Download Center at https://downloads.ssh.com. Please log in with your e-mail address. Your password has been provided to you earlier. It is extremely important that you first read the SSH Tectia Client/Server 5.0 Migration Guide before upgrading your existing installation of SSH Tectia Client or Server to version 5.0. You can download the Migration Guide from http://www.ssh.com/documents/30/SSHTectiaClientServer_MigrationGuide.pdf.

* Product News (2) - SSH Tectia Manager 2.0 Released
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SSH Tectia Manager 2.0 was released on September 21, 2005. The new SSH Tectia Manager 2.0 allows centralized management of the SSH Tectia client/server solution 5.0. Other new features include a built-in public-key infrastructure (PKI) for centralized and scalable management of server host authentication in large-scale SSH Tectia environments, ensuring secure and cost-effective server maintenance.

* Tips & Tricks: Dynamic SSH Tectia Server configuration
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
SSH Tectia Server 5.0 features flexible XML configuration that makes it possible for example to:

• Offer different services such as secure file transfer or terminal access for particular users
  
• Require different authentication methods when connecting through internal and external network interfaces
  
• Use your favorite XML editor with the DTD file of the SSH Tectia Server configuration to easily modify and validate your configuration
