Swisscom Eurospot Enhances Ease of Use and Security on its Network

Swisscom Eurospot, the European leading provider of high-speed internet access for business travellers announced today the completion of its security certification program with Check Point Software Technologies (NASDAQ: CHKP), Nortel Networks and SSH Communications Security.
The Swisscom Eurospot network is targeted at professionals and locations where they stay when on the move such as hotels, business centres, airports and train stations. It already complies with the Intel Centrino security verification program and demonstrates now that it is also compatible with leading information security vendors such as Check Point, Nortel Networks and SSH.Check Point VPN-1 SecureClient solution (release R55), Nortel Networks Contivity Client (version 4.86.033) and Contivity Server (version 4.80.124) as well as the SSH Tectia client/server solution (version 4.0), have passed the security testing with Swisscom Eurospot's pan-European network in all possible hotspot configurations. Among several technical tests, the certification program includes tests on IP connectivity through a challenging satellite connection as well as tests on NAT transversal and fragmentation issues.

When business travellers log-on to Swisscom Eurospot's high-speed internet access services, they can establish direct access to their corporate networks via the Internet. To prevent data eavesdropping, connection hijacking and unauthorized access to the corporate intranet, the use of encryption solutions such as VPN (Virtual Private Network) or managed security middleware is required. These solutions, already in use within the confines of most offices (wireline connection), can now also be used on the move, facilitating remote connection through Swisscom Eurospot's wired & wireless network.
