SSH TO FOCUS ON DATA SECURITY SOFTWARE AS WELL AS TO COMMENCE EMPLOYER/EMPLOYEE NEGOTIATIONS
In the future, SSH will focus on the development of software-based data security and management products. The company has decided to concentrate on its core competence and discontinue the development of VPN hardware and to adapt its operations according to that decision. SSH continues the development of VPN software. FOCUSING ON SOFTWARE In early 2000, SSH started to develop VPN hardware along with its data security software. However, VPN hardware products were not able to establish a strong position in the data security and IT markets within the set schedule. For this reason, investments in VPN hardware products and their marketing are no longer justifiable. The company will study the possibility to license the VPN hardware technology. SSH will continue to develop the SSH Sentinel product which is part of the VPN system, as well as the SSH Certifier product family, due to their favorable reception in the market and the potential for future growth. In the future SSH will serve the VPN market e.g. with its IPSec Toolkit, SSH Secure Shell and SSH Sentinel software products. Focusing on data security software will support SSH's position as the market leader in OEM products based on the Secure Shell and IPSec technologies. The company aims to maintain its software's position as the most technologically advanced on the market. AIMING TO ENSURE LONG-TERM PRECONDITIONS FOR GROWTH Due to the slowing down of the data security and IT markets, SSH has to adapt its cost structure in accordance with the prevailing market situation. Because of this SSH will today commence an employer/employee negotiations. The estimated personnel reduction required is 30-40 persons. The personnel reductions will apply to the entire Group. On March 31, 2002, the number of employees in the Group was 187. The purpose of these measures is to improve the company's profitability and the cost structure, thus improving preconditions for long-term growth. SSH will continue to invest in its most important R&D targets and to develop its sales.
