SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security solutions, today announced that Securitas Tekniikka Oy, a Finnish subsidiary of Securitas, an international security group operating in 16 European countries and as Pinkerton Corp. in the United States, has licensed SSH Sentinel and SSH Certifier security applications. Under the terms of the agreement that was signed during the last quarter in 2001, Securitas Tekniikka will implement SSH's Internet security solutions to its Timecon corporate security and time management systems.

SSH Sentinel is a remote access IPSec VPN client software that provides easy and flexible IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) for network communications. Securitas Tekniikka will implement SSH Sentinel to secure data transmission between the Timecon access control server at the customer site and a management server located in a remote alarm center facility. The solution is used for various remote management and reporting tasks utilizing standardized technologies such as PKI (public key infrastructure) and digital certificates for strong authentication of servers to establish a secure host-to-host IPSec tunnel over the Internet.

SSH Certifier PKI software manages and issues digital X.509 certificates for user and server authentication. Customers can themselves create or allow Securitas to remotely maintain the Certificate Revocation List (CRL) to manage revocation of certificates.

Many information security breaches happen from inside organizations. Securing the network from internal attacks is as critical as the prevention of external attacks. Securitas will install SSH Sentinel on every workstation that connects to their customer's network through the Timecon security and management system.
