NetOctave Chooses SSH IPSec Express for High-Speed Security Processors
The addition of the NSP3200 to our NSP3000-series of IPSec acceleration products is the result of customer demand for a scalable, high-speed and cost effective security solution," said Rick Hegberg, CEO of NetOctave."SSHs IPSec technology was the clear choice in terms of its industry recognition as the de facto standard for IP-based security and its ability to enable OEMs to incorporate reliable security quickly and efficiently."
NetOctaves NSP3000-IPSec Security Accelerator Board Family is the ideal solution for customers who want to cost-effectively integrate hardware-accelerated IPSec security into new or existing network equipment. By transferring compute-intensive security processing to one or more of these PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) and PMC (PCI Mezzanine Card) form factor boards, customers can avoid the expense of adding general-purpose processors to handle the demands of security processing. The new NSP3200 Security Processor is a single chip that provides complete IPSec processing and packet handling and enables full- duplex OC-48 (the SONET transmission rate of 2.4 Gbps) encrypted performance in high-performance network equipment. The new security processor handles complete encryption and authentication, packet handling, inbound and outbound policy lookup, security associations, and link state processing. It supports ESP (Encapsulating Security Payload) and AH (Authentication Header) in transport and tunnel modes. NetOctave's unique architecture allows system designers to place the security processor directly in the data path, offloading functions from the network processor and eliminating significant control path overhead.
Todays business and networking environment demands encryption products that are able to secure high volumes of traffic at multi- gigabit speeds at a reasonable cost, said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH Communications Security."NetOctave has answered this requirement with an industry first in high-speed security processing. SSH is participating in this breakthrough with our comprehensive IPSec Express Toolkit to continue to expand the envelope for IP network security performance."
About IPSec and SSH IPSEC Express Toolkit
IPSec is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard for protecting IP traffic using cryptography on the packet level. This Internet protocol is the predominant security technology used in VPNs. A driving force for IPSec, VPNs allow users to establish secure data communications between multiple networks or network devices using insecure public networks such as the Internet.SSHs IPSec solutions are one of the leading toolkits for IPSec implementations in secure local and global communications. The companys latest product, SSH IPSEC Express Toolkit 4.1, provides scalable, robust security for IP networks, and supports the VxWorks operating system, as well as the industrys latest Internet standards. These standards include IPv6, enhanced PKI (Public Key Infrastructure), and the new Rijndael cryptography standard. With SSH IPSEC 4.1, enterprise customers are ensured a high level of security, with considerable savings in product development time and delivery.
