SSH founder Tatu Ylönen to speak at RSA 2001
Inventor of Secure Shell Protocol to Address Wireless Internet Security and VPN Interoperability at Industry's Leading Security Conference
SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security technologies, today announced that Company Founder, Chairman and CTO Tatu Ylönen has been selected to speak at this year's RSA 2001 Conference in San Francisco April 8 - 12.Ylönen's first presentation, Securing the Wireless Internet, is one of RSA's Industry Track sessions. This presentation will examine how IP affects the convergence of all wireless fixed data traffic, as well as the current standards that are vying for acceptance. Ylönen will discuss how technologies such as WAP (Wireless Application Protocol), the 2G and 3G standards and Bluetooth attempt to address wireless security concerns, and which technologies are appropriate for which applications. Ylönen will present on Monday, April 9 from 8:00 - 8:50 a.m.
Ylönen will also participate in RSA's Developer Track, hosting a discussion on Bridging IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) and NAT (Network Address Translation) Technologies. Traditionally NAT devices connect a network using private, unregistered addresses to an external network that uses globally unique registered addresses - however, IPSec traffic normally cannot traverse NAT devices, making VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions unworkable for most businesses. Ylönen will describe an innovative solution to the "gap" in this developer-focused session. Ylönen's second presentation will be held on Tuesday, April 10 from 9:00 - 9:50 a.m.
Tatu Ylönen is the recipient of the 2000 Finnish Engineering Award from the Finnish Association of Graduate Engineers for his work on developing Internet security solutions. The founder of SSH, Ylönen was part of the IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) that developed the IPSec standard. Ylönen is also the inventor of the Secure Shell protocol, which has millions of users in over 80 countries.
