SSH advances internet security with SSH IPSEC Express 4.1
IPSec Toolkit Expands Support for Cryptographic Hardware Accelerators, Linux and Enhanced PKI Functionality
SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security technologies, today announced SSH IPSEC ExpressTM 4.1, adding enhanced functionality to its award-winning IPSEC Express Toolkit family. SSHs security toolkits implement IPSec (Internet Protocol Security), IKE (Internet Key Exchange) and PKI (Public Key Infrastructure) standards to bring strong, cryptographic security to IP networks. SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 enables OEMs and ISVs (Independent Software Vendors) to bring their IPSec-based security applications to market quickly and efficiently."SSH is committed to the continued advancement of IPSec technology and its ability to provide comprehensive security to IP networks," said George Adams, president and CEO, SSH USA. "With the newly added support and functionality of SSH IPSEC Express 4.1, SSH will be able to provide our customers with a high performance, multi- platform solution that helps protect networks from both internal and external threats."
SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 delivers three major new features, including support for hardware accelerators and enhanced Linux and PKI functionality.
Cryptographic Hardware Accelerator Support With the use of cryptographic hardware accelerators, SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 enables customers to achieve considerably higher throughput rates compared to software only cryptographic operations. This combination enables throughput rates of up to near wire speed, giving customers powerful network security for the widest range of product applications. SSHs newest toolkit includes support for the industrys leading security processors, including Hifn, SafeNet and nCipher.
Improved Linux Support SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 also offers expanded Linux support with the addition of Linux 2.4, the newest and most widely used version. The support also includes IPv6, the most current version of the Internet Protocol.
Enhanced PKI Functionality SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 includes features for easy integration and interoperability with PKIs. In addition to OCSP (Online Certificate Status Protocol), client-side SCEP (Simple Certificate Enrollment Protocol) and CMPv2 (Certificate Management Protocol) for automated certificate enrollment, SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 now includes PKCS#12 (Public Key Cryptography Standard), a widely used portable format for private credentials. This enables exporting of private keys and certificates between different applications.
About IPSec and SSH IPSEC Express
IPSec is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard for protecting IP traffic using cryptography on the packet level. This Internet protocol is the predominant security technology used in VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). A driving force for IPSec, VPNs allow users to establish secure data communications between multiple networks or network devices using insecure public networks such as the Internet. SSHs IPSec technology adds scalable, strong security to IP networks, without limiting its flexibility to enable new types of business opportunities, such as secure local and global communications between companies. SSH IPSEC Express is the worlds leading toolkit for IPSec.Pricing and Availability
SSH IPSEC Express 4.1 will be available in June, with prices depending on customer implementation.
