SSH recognized as Company to Watch in 2001
Secure Computing Magazine Deems SSH One of Top Players in Security Market
The year 2000 came and departed smoothly without any anticipated Y2K catastrophes. Focus has now diverted to the critical need of Internet security and what companies are doing to alleviate escalating hacking activities. SSH Communications Security (HEX:SSH1V), a world-leading developer of Internet security technologies, has been developing cutting-edge technology from its inception in 1995. Secure Computing Magazine recently acknowledged SSH as one of the "Companies to Watch in 2001" in its January issue."The Internet has become one of the defining aspects of our culture today. Millions of people depend daily on its services, however, most don't realize the dangers associated with hacking," said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH Communications Security, Inc. "Recognition from top publications such as Secure Computing helps us educate the public on what's at risk and what measures can be taken to prevent content and password tampering."
According to Bear, Stearns & Company, Inc., the Internet security marketplace could reach 5 billion worldwide by 2004. Secure Computing reports that IT administrators and executives are now beginning to understand the caliber of new "cyberthreats" and are making Internet security their number one priority. Depending on an organization's needs, there are many facets of security that must be covered in order to prevent infiltration. SSH provides encryption and authentication technologies for secure Internet communications. The company develops and markets standards-based Internet security software products and services - including its original Secure ShellTM application and the SSH® IPSEC ExpressTM Toolkit family - that are high quality, interoperable, scalable and easy to implement.
According to Secure Computing, "In facilitating the execution of IPSec (Internet Protocol Security) and PKI (Private Key Infrastructure) industry standards, SSH's toolkits bring strong, cryptographic security to IP networks. This company will continue raising the bar for quickly implementing various security applications with ease."
SSH continually strives to develop strong security technology through industry and association involvement. Last year, the company supplied its Secure Shell encryption software free to all U.S. and German universities in an attempt to prevent DoS (Denial of Service) attacks. Recently, SSH alleviated the bottlenecks plaguing businesses that wish to deploy VPN (Virtual Private Network) solutions using IPSec. SSH was also the first in the industry to provide secure terminal connections and file transfers for businesses using Microsoft Windows NT 4.0/2000 servers.
