SSH Communications Security Unveils New IPsec Toolkit Optimized for the Internet Appliance Market
SSH Leverages Leading IPsec Technology to Bring Affordable, Scaleable Security Solutions to Internet Appliances
SSH Communications Security (SSH), the world-leading developer of Internet security and advanced cryptography solutions, today widened the scope of its family of products with the introduction of the company's first Internet security toolkit geared for the Internet appliance market. The SSH IPSEC Appliance Toolkit implements IPsec (Internet Protocol Security) functionality for the highest level of Internet security, with affordable pricing specifically for the Internet appliance market. SSH's security toolkits are built on tested, public cryptographic algorithms and standardized protocols, providing OEMs, enterprises and system integrators with an easy-to-implement, high performance security solution."As Internet appliances continue to gain popularity for e-commerce and communication applications, customers must be confident that their data is secure," said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH, Inc. "SSH recognizes the different needs of users and their environments, and we are excited to offer the appliance market the same level of high-performance the industry has come to expect from SSH, with the ability to grow into a more robust solution as business needs change."
The Need for Appliance Device Security
SSH's IPsec technology adds scaleable, strong security to IP networks, without limiting its flexibility to enable new types of business opportunities, such as secure local and global communications between companies' e-commerce and e-banking. Until now, this level of security had been unaffordable for companies to implement in products such as handheld devices and network-attached storage appliances, as well as in the lower-priced firewall and VPN products. In addition, the SSH IPSEC Appliance Toolkit can be scaled upwards to accommodate the future security requirements of businesses, including larger system requirements, such as business-to-business e-commerce and enterprise resource planning. SSH is committed to providing a security solution that complements the growing number of appliance products, applications and operating systems.Product Functionality and Support
The SSH IPSEC Appliance Toolkit will provide users with support for embedded RTOS (Real-Time Operating System) platforms, encryption and hashing options, IKE (Internet Key Exchange) modes, multiple SAs (Security Associations) and hardware acceleration APIs (Application Program Interface), with the following functionality:- Supported Platforms - Support for the industry-leading Wind River VxWorks RTOS, Red Hat and SuSe Linux distributions, FreeBSD and NetBSD Unix.
- Encryption and Hashing Options - Fully integrated support for encryption and hashing algorithms such as DES, triple DES, MD5 and SHA-1.
- IKE Modes - Advanced key management functionality to set security parameters, including which encryption algorithms to use, the lifetime of the encryption and the encryption keys themselves.
- Security Associations - Built-in scalability for multiple IPsec SAs and IKE SAs.
- Hardware Acceleration API - For faster key exchange negotiations and authentication processing through hardware-assisted key management.
Pricing and Availability
The SSH IPSEC Appliance Toolkit is available for licensing and immediate delivery for the Linux, FreeBSD, and NetBSD platforms. Support for the VxWorks platform will ship within the next 60 days. Licensing and pricing terms for the SSH IPSEC Appliance Toolkit are geared for the demanding requirements of the embedded and appliance markets. Evaluation kits and licensing terms are available on request.SSH Corp. Contact
