Compaq Selects SSH IPSEC Express(TM) Toolkit
Internet Security Toolkit to be Integrated into Compaq's Leading Enterprise Server Operating Systems
SSH Communications Security, Inc. (SSH), the world-leading developer of Internet security and advanced cryptography solutions, today announced an agreement through which Compaq Computer Corporation will incorporate SSH IPSEC Express(TM) Toolkit into its enterprise-leading server operating systems --- Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS.These operating systems provide comprehensive out-of-the-box management that enhances productivity and efficiency for customers' administrative tasks, from installing software to monitoring events to configuring the system for optimum performance. Integration of SSH's IPsec technologies will enable Compaq to provide its customers with an effective and cost-efficient security solution which incorporates strong cryptographic security features and fast, easy configuration.
"Our customers are looking to Compaq to provide highly effective solutions with built-in security capabilities, and we are committed to producing the best enterprise operating systems in the industry," said Tim Yeaton, vice president of Compaq's UNIX Systems Business Unit. "We feel SSH provides the most robust and easiest to use encryption available for these environments."
SSH IPSEC Express is a toolkit for implementing IPsec security in TCP/IP (Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol) products that need strong, cryptographic security. This Internet protocol is the predominant technology used in VPNs (Virtual Private Networks), and IPsec will provide strong security for Compaq's server operating systems. IPsec is an IETF (Internet Engineering Task Force) standard for protecting IP traffic using cryptography on the packet level. SSH's IPsec technology adds scaleable, strong security to IP without limiting its flexibility to enable new types of business opportunities, such as secure local and global communications between companies, e-commerce and e-banking.
"By integrating IPsec into its flagship server operating systems, Compaq underscores the necessity for security as part of all computing activities," said George Adams, president and CEO of SSH, Inc. "With the growth of Internet usage and associated security breaches, designed-in security is an essential part of the end-product. We are pleased to join the leading supplier of computer systems in an effort to provide customers with the most secure Tru64 UNIX and OpenVMS enterprise operating systems on the market."
