SSH IPSEC Express Version 1.2 Includes Exceptional New Features
The primary purpose of SSH IPSEC Express is to secure and authenticate communications over the Internet. Importance is now put on making authentication easier and faster. Authentication is based on IP-addresses, FQDNs, email addresses, stored in certificates. SSH IPSEC Express 1.2 can now include in one package the novel SSH X.509 Certificate Tools, which consists of library functions that can be used for integration into an X.509v3 Public Key Infrastructure.
This new version includes as well, SSH Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (SSH LDAP) library which provides access to X.509 directories supporting LDAP protocol. With SSH LDAP, certificates and certificate revocation lists (CRLs) can be retrieved from the remote server instead of having them stored locally to each network node.
An important new feature of SSH IPSEC Express 1.2 is the support for IP Payload Compression Protocol (IPPCP or IPCOMP) with deflates and LZS algorithms. This increases the efficiency of data transport significantly.
The key negotiation is also made simpler. SSH IPSEC Express 1.2 provides support for sending and receiving initial contact notification, any Configuration Mode request/set, and multiple Configuration Mode transactions in one negotiation. It introduces also support for AND SA proposals in Quick Mode. This enables the use of different protocols like Encapsulation Security Protocol (ESP) and IP Payload Compression (IPCOMP) during one transmission. This increases the security and efficiency of transmission considerably.
