Markets and Solutions
SSH Communications Security develops end-to-end communications security solutions for large enterprises, financial institutions, and government agencies. With the company's SSH Tectia solution, organizations can cost-effectively secure their system administration, file transfers, and application connections against both internal and external threats. SSH Tectia products provide transparent strong encryption and authentication, and are available for all key enterprise platforms including Windows, Unix, Linux, and IBM mainframes, and easily integrate into heterogeneous network environments.
SSH Tectia, based on the award-winning SSH Secure Shell, is the de-facto standard for secure replacement of Telnet, FTP, and other unsecured remote login and remote command execution methods. The most traditional and still today a major use case for Secure Shell-based products is the secure remote administration of servers and other network devices. SSH products are used by millions worldwide for secure system administration and file transfers.
SSH continuously expands its SSH Tectia solution to meet demanding communications security needs of large organizations. The current focus areas are secure host access and enhanced file transfer (EFT). SSH provides Expansion Packs to these areas to allow easy expansion of existing SSH Tectia environments. By concentrating on these two growing market segments, SSH will continue to strengthen its position as the leading provider of end-to-end communications security and Secure Shell technology.
Regulations as Key Drivers
Regulations and legislations are driving the implementation of more comprehensive security policies and processes in organizations worldwide. Privacy legislation related to the confidentiality of patient records, credit card holder information and financial data have placed new requirements on companies for effectively protecting their internal data systems. Data encryption is one of the key technical safeguards in ensuring the security of sensitive and mission-critical business data.
Corporate risk management and laws governing internal control mechanisms constitute another area of legislations that have major impacts for data security. For example, compliance with SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act) Section 404, which enforces US publicly traded companies to establish effective internal control structure, typically involves major IT projects, where authentication, authorization, and auditing practices need to be improved.
SSH Tectia helps organizations to comply with regulatory data security requirements by encrypting confidential business data, eliminating transmission of plaintext passwords, and providing centralized auditing capability of secured connections throughout large and heterogeneous enterprise networks.
